Trolls Bridge 2 (Yggdrasil): Overview
Trolls Bridge 2 is a 5-reel, 25 payline slot powered by Yggdrasil Gaming and a follow up to the 2017 release Trolls Bridge. With improved graphics and more action-packed than ever before, you once again get to enter the fairy-tale fantasy world of Yggdrasil’s crazy trolls where you’ll encounter colossal symbols, random multipliers, a bonus cauldron feature, and a free spins game where each round is different in setup from the other. Accessible via your desktop or mobile device, this medium variance slot can be played from 10 cents up to 140€/£ per spin.
Although some of the childish and quirky charisma of the original still shines through, you’ll find the sequel to be significantly darker, both visually and aurally. Not only has the quality of the visual design greatly improved, so has the building technique of the trolls. Instead of a rickety wooden fence, the troll fortress is now an intimidating stone structure decorated with spikes, flames, human skulls and red banners to signal doom and destruction.
With the reels set over an intimidating drawbridge and a sinister soundtrack serving as the troll anthem, symbols include diamond, club, spade and heart card suits. More rewarding are the four troll picture symbols that can appear as 2×2 and 2×4 colossal symbols. The most lucrative of these is the red-haired troll, giving you 10 times your stake for five of a kind. There’s also a golden wild symbol included in the game which substitutes for all symbols except the scatter.
Trolls Bridge 2 (Yggdrasil): Features
Fans of the original game will find Trolls Bridge 2 to be just as action-packed and feature-heavy. Before anything else, however, you’ll need to make an active decision whether to play with the Golden Bet activated or not. Similar to the classic Yggdrasil game Golden Fish Tank, activating the Golden Bet will give you an extra feature pick in the free spins game and boost the RTP of the game by 0.6%, but it will also increase the cost of your spins by 40%.
Once you’ve made your call, keep an eye out for the skull scatter symbol as 3 or more anywhere in view will activate the Free Spins – 3, 4 or 5 scatter symbols will give you 6, 8 or 10 spins with 3, 4 or 5 feature picks respectively. Before the action starts, you’ll see a wall with 18 skulls and asked to use your picks to reveal your feature combo. This can include extra picks, additional free spins, random wilds on every spin, colossal symbols and symbol upgrades. With 18 different features on offer, no two free spins rounds are likely to be the same.
In the main game, the Bonus Cauldron feature will trigger if the cauldron symbol lands on the last reel. Similar to the chest feature in Yggdrasil’s Vikings series, it will either give you a cash prize of up to 50 times your stake or entry to the free spins game.
Colossal Symbols do not only appear in the free spins feature but can hit randomly in the main game as well. On any spin, 2×4 colossal troll symbols can hit anywhere on the reels to increase your chance of landing big wins.
Finally, a Bonus Stone feature might come into play following a winning spin in the main game. If randomly activated, you’ll see a boulder catapulted at the reels with a multiplier attached that can boost your wins by up to 5x.
Trolls Bridge 2 (Yggdrasil): Verdict
Trolls Bridge 2 is a game that utilities the same fundamental mechanic as many other popular Yggdrasil titles such as Golden Fish Tank, Vikings Go To Hell, Lucha Maniacs and, of course, the original Trolls Bridge. And while there’s a lot to like about it, in particular the stellar graphics and the entertaining free spins feature, there are also some factors that can put some players off. For example, all the base game features that seemed so intriguing at first eventually start to feel useless as the payouts, even with the help of colossal symbols and random multipliers, are quite low in general.
With that said, it’s well worth a try, especially if you’re into previously mentioned games, as the free spins feature is entertaining enough to make up for the mediocre base game. Don’t expect any life-changing wins, however. The original version offers a max win of around 2000x and Trolls Bridge 2 is likely in the same ballpark.
