Super Joker Megaways: Slot Overview

For fans of fruity gaming, developer Stakelogic has filled a Megaways powered slot with the stuff, while condensing it down to a three-reel format. Despite the added sophistication Megaways inherently brings, Super Joker Megaways sticks to its fruit slot heritage by being a generally simple game. In saying that, there are quite a few features accompanying the action. Despite being streamlined in essence, complexity is provided by multi-mode gaming, cascades, instant prizes, and a gamble feature.

There’s no mistaking what genre you might have inadvertently wandered into when Super Joker Megaways loads up. A sort of 1970s diamond-patterned wallpaper makes up the background, behind a 3-reel grid covered in big bright symbols. Being a Megaways slot, the rows are dynamic and randomly change from between 2-8 rows on each spin, making the game capable of producing up to 512 ways to win. The soundtrack, meanwhile, has a Boogie Nights thing going on, helping produce an environment you dig daddio or you just don’t.

Highly volatile, the game is playable across all devices, producing an RTP of 96.5%. Choosing bets involves two levels of decision making. First is base, ranging from 10 p/c to £/€100 per spin. Like many Stakelogic games, Super Joker Megaways comes with a Super Stake feature, so the second choice is whether to activate it or not. When engaged, more scatter symbols are added to the reels, increasing the chances of triggering the Super Win feature. There is a cost of course – it doubles the base bet. Symbol values are the same whether the Super Stake is active or not. There’s no word on hit frequency in the game sheet, but being a fruit slot it’s likely to be below 20% although it’s just a guess from our side.

As for symbols, there are only six regulars to form line wins with. From low to high are cherries, lemons, grapes, bells, stars, and lucky sevens, worth 0.20 to 5 times the bet for three of a kind. The only other symbols are scatters, covered next.

Super Joker Megaways: Slot Features

What gives Super Joker Megaways more individuality than being a simple three reels Megaways slot is its two game modes. Most of the time, it chugs away in a default mode, alternating to Super Joker Mode when certain conditions are met. On top of this, players get cascades, a Super Win feature, and gambling options.

Cascades in Super Joker Megaways work as they usually do in a Megaways game. When a win hits, it is removed from the reels to allow existing symbols to drop down and new ones to cascade in. More hits can line up, meaning cascades continue to function until no new winning combinations appear.

The mischievous joker symbol is the scatter, landing on all three reels. When 3 or more are in view, they activate the Super Win feature. Next, a bunch of prizes appear on screen, and one is randomly awarded, paid, then you’re back to the game. Reward size is partially dictated by the number of scatters triggering it. If 3 scatters flip the feature, the win could be anything from 2 to 600 times the stake. If 4 or more scatters triggered the feature, then you will always receive the 600x prize.

Winning 2 times your stake or more triggers Super Joker Mode. In many ways, this is like another Super Stake option combined with a gamble feature. You’ll know the mode is engaged because the background turns blue, and your win is displayed in a Super Meter located above the reels. You have the choice to spin in this mode which doubles the size of the total bet or collect your winnings. Super Joker Mode ends when the money in the meter is less than 2x the stake, or greater than 200x. The benefit of spinning in this mode is that landing two scatters awards 2x-600x the bet, while 3 or 4 scatters award 100-600x, or 600x respectively. Winning 100x from these prizes also ends the mode.

For those who just can’t have betting options is the gamble feature where you can double/quadruple or nothing your win by guessing the colour or suit of a face-down card.

Super Joker Megaways: Slot Verdict

Fruity/Vegas-style slots continue their creep into the Megaways arena, with Super Joker Megaways furthering their advance. Stakelogic is no stranger to three-reel slots either, as Super Joker Megaways forms part of a whole line of Joker slots from Stakelogic.

As for the features, the Super Stake option is standard by now, appearing in one form or another in a host of Stakelogic slots. It isn’t cheap, literally doubling each bet, but when it works out it can be great. Taking the ‘going large’ concept one step further is Super Joker Mode. This one is a little more controversial and a potential deal-breaker. Like Super Stake, Super Joker Mode is great when it goes your way, yet it also has a tendency to chew through winnings like nothing else. It’s a mode which fast tracks players to glory or ruin since each spin costs four times the base level.

What makes Super Joker Mode slightly provocative perhaps is that it cannot be deactivated. Players who don’t like the gamble feature popping up after a win have the luxury of switching it off. Not such an issue when manually spinning, but if you are using autospin, then when Super Joker Mode is in play there is no option to collect wins. You either hit the win caps or lose it all. Seeing a decent win take automatic hits you can’t prevent is like jamming toothpaste back in the tube – super frustrating.

If you like pushing your luck to the limit via extra gamble or stake options, then Super Joker Megaways should scratch the itch – especially if you enjoy doing so in a jazzy Vegas environment. If not, Super Joker Megaways kind of loses its point.
