Powerspin (Relax Gaming): Overview
We weren’t exactly swept off our feet when we first laid eyes on Relax Gaming’s Powerspin, for anyone who’s been in the game for a while has seen similar layouts before. Giving it a few spins, our suspicions proved correct. Not that we want to give away any spoilers, but nearly all the classic elements are there as expected, and not that we want to add insult to injury, but it even seems they’ve borrowed Red Tiger’s visual designers.
So let’s get right to it. Powerspin is a 3×3, 5 payline fruit slot with a futuristic feel emphasised by its electronic soundtrack and artwork. Playable on desktop computers as well as Android and iOS devices from as little as 10 cents up to 500€ per spin, it comes with a Respin feature that, in itself is not all that exciting, but can activate the Bonus Wheel where various modifier extras await. It’s hard to say where the game sits in terms of volatility, but it’s likely in the upper medium to high range seeing that the game has a tendency to give you streaks of dead spins only to pay back larger chunks through its features. Either way, the 96.84% RTP is excellent and slightly higher than what you normally see these days, which does make up for some of Powerspin’s lacklustre personality.
The symbols included in the game are 7 in total. Surprisingly, there are no wilds or any other special symbols to benefit from here. From lowest to the highest value, symbols on the reels include cherries, lemons, bells, lucky sevens, diamonds, batteries and thunderbolts. The latter is the most rewarding of the bunch, giving you 6 times your stake for 3 of a kind. All symbols appear fully stacked on the reels.
Powerspin (Relax Gaming): Features
Whenever you land 2 full reels of matching symbol, the Respin feature comes into play. During the respin, all matching symbols will be held in position while remaining tiles are spun again. The wins from this feature will be mediocre at best with a max payout is 30 times your stake for a full screen of batteries (the thunderbolt symbols does not appear in the main game).
Now, if you land a full screen of any matching symbols, the Bonus Wheel is initiated. On the wheel, you’ll see 5 segments with various prizes which can be either a symbol upgrade or extra multipliers. If the red pointer stops on one of the numbers, the value is added to your total multiplier up to a maximum of 10x. If the pointer stops on the red segment, your symbol is upgraded. The feature ends when the pointer stops on a grey area or if you hit the max 300 times your stake win.
As with many of Relax Gaming’s slots, it also comes with the randomly activated Jackpot Star game where you can trigger one of six fixed jackpots.
Powerspin (Relax Gaming): Final Verdict
During our test run (demo play), we nearly hit the max payout while trying out a few spins on the maximum stake of 500€, resulting in a 120,000.00 EUR win. This didn’t change our opinion of the game, however, which we feel is represented by slapdash presentation and an altogether run-of-the-mill generic tone. With very little meat on the skeleton, things are not made better by the horrendously low payouts. On the positive, the RTP is generous and the Bonus Wheel does trigger quite frequently, but ultimately it’s not enough to keep us coming back for another round.
