Luck O’ The Irish Megaways

Luck O’ The Irish Megaways (Blueprint Gaming): Overview

If you stripped any Blueprint Megaways slot down to its core components and redesigned it to be as simple as possible while also granting it some originality, you’d get something very close to Luck O’ The Irish Megaways. It takes the basic parts of the Megaways franchise and redeploys them in a way that’s accessible and straightforward with a whole lot less baggage – for better or worse. While it lacks the depth that arises from the busy gameplay found in most Megaways slots, the streamlined approach of Luck O’ The Irish offers something else that, for some at least, might make up for it.

This is not a slot that will qualify as an option for any casino streamer doing a bonus hunt, for there is no bonus to trigger. In this Irish themed slot from Gauselmann Group owned studio Blueprint Gaming, you can either choose to play on the standard 5 reel, 16,807 ways to win reel set, or activate the Fortune Spins that, for a fixed price will give you additional reel sets to benefit from. Just like its Leprechaun cousin Slots O’Gold Megaways, it does not come with a cascading symbols feature typically associated with the Megaways game engine. For those unfamiliar with the concept, this means that winning symbols are not removed or replaced by new ones as is the case in Tiki Treasures Megaways, Return of Kong Megaways, or Wolf Legend Megaways, to name a few examples. Medium to high variance, you can play Luck O’ The Irish across all devices, including iOS and Android, from 10 cents to 25€ per spin.

If you recognise the title and design, it’s probably because the game is based on Luck O’ The Irish – an ancient Blueprint slot heavily influenced by the UK classic Rainbow Riches. Set on the green fields of Leprechaun heaven with a super rainbow in the backdrop, the low-paying symbols are comprised of A to 10 royals, accompanied by more rewarding red, blue and green gems. The top payer, however, is the pot of gold, giving you 5 times your stake if you land a 5 of a kind combination. Due to the fact that all symbols appear fully stacked on the reels, the potential in this slot is outstanding as you will see.

Luck O’ The Irish Megaways (Blueprint Gaming): Features

Fortune Spins feature

While there’s really not a whole lot going on in the main game in terms of features, the Megaways engine is there to make sure you’re kept on your toes. With each reel being able to hold up to 7 symbols (each reel will randomly give you between 2 and 7 symbols on each spin), the game can produce up to 16,807 ways to win when fully expanded.

There’s also Blueprint’s signature Mystery Symbols feature to benefit from – all instances of the Luck O’ The Irish symbol appearing in view will reveal a randomly chosen regular symbol.

Finally, if you’re feeling the luck of the Irish, there’s a Fortune Spins button for you to click. For a cost of 20 times your stake, it will give you 4 spins played across 4 interlinked reel sets (each with up to 16,807 ways to win). During the Fortune Spins, any number of special Luck O’ The Irish symbols that land in view will be cloned and added to subsequent reels. For example, land 5 special symbols on the first reel and these will be carried over to reels 2, 3 and 4 – placed on the same positions. If indeed it does turn out to be your lucky day, there’s up to 10,000 times your stake to pocket here. Obviously, this is an extremely unlikely scenario, although it should be mentioned that Blueprint potential is not a myth as we have seen over the years.

Luck O’ The Irish Megaways (Blueprint Gaming): Verdict

As you would expect, Luck O’ The Irish Megaways can be a bit dull in standard mode, as there are no scatter teases for you to get worked up over or free spins to keep you motivated. Obviously, it will be hard for anyone to play this game without getting pulled in by the gravity of the Fortune Spins button. If the 20x price tag is too much for you, we suggest you try a few spins in standard mode first. Then, if you manage to build up your balance, you can always treat yourself with a bonus and hope for the best.

It was actually a bit hard to decide whether we liked this slot or not as it’s essentially made up of two slots. What we can say is this. If you don’t like bonus buy features, then skip this game altogether. If you’re looking for some play time but feeling a bit limited by your balance, skip this game and go for a more traditional Megaways slot. If you’re a total degen or just like the idea of being able to decide for yourself when it’s time for a bonus, Luck O’ The Irish Megaways might very well float your boat.
