Hugo Goal Introduction
Hugo Goal is a 3-reel video slots played on 5 fixed paylines. It’s playable on all devices from as little as €0.05 all the way up to €100. A combination of three matching symbols along any payline constitutes a win. This is quite a simple game so there really isn’t much explaining needed.
With the football world cup fast approaching, casinos and game developers are in a hurry to launch football theme campaigns and slots, just as they always have in the past. Other examples are Yggdrasil’s Bicicleta and NetEnt’s Football: Champions Cup, both launched during the 2016 UEFA European Championship.
Hugo Goal Symbols
Hugo Goal includes 5 low paying symbols represented by the following items: footballs, whistle pipes, football shoes, timers and referee flags. The best one, the football, pays 6x for a full screen. The 3 premium symbols are represented by characters – The Goat, Don Croco and Afskylia, with the latter one being the most valuable of all regular symbols, giving a return of 25x for a full screen. The wild symbol carries the face of Hugo and is the most valuable one being worth an impressive 80x for a full screen (insert irony here).
As you might have guessed by now, this is not enough to get you anywhere at all, so what you need is the Penalty Shoot-Out feature. More on that below.
Action Replay Feature
Trigger the Action Replay feature on non-winning spins, when there are two full stacks of the same character (premiums) visible on the reels. The Wild (Hugo) symbol can be used to replace all character symbols when triggering the feature. The reel without the full stacks will then perform free re-spins until you are provided with a winning combination. If there is a possibility of two different reels to re-spin, the reel that provides the biggest potential will remain in place.
Free Kick Feature
Trigger the Free Kick feature on a non-winning spin, when there are two full stacks of the same item (low value symbol) visible on the reels. The reel without the full stacks will perform only one free re-spin, giving you a second chance to win.
Penalty Shoot-Out Bonus
Trigger the Penalty Shoot-Out bonus game when all symbol positions on the reels are filled with the same symbol. You play as Hugo, who is now acting as the goalkeeper, attempting to save as many penalties as possible in order to multiply your winnings from the game round that triggered the feature.
You have exactly 5 attempts to save. Pick and click the position on-screen where you think Hugo will make a save. Each save will increase the win multiplier by one. Saving all 5 penalties will award the highest multiplier of x10. The available multipliers are x2, x3, x4, x5 and ,x10.
The Hugo slots have proved to work well for Play’n GO, even though the theme, which is childish to say the least, certainly divides people. This game is not for everyone and definately not if you’re into high variance, high potential slots. Our guess is that this was meant more as a light hearted, feel-good sort of game, directed towards the recreational gambler and not the hardcore group of players.
According to the provider, Hugo Goal is a high variance game, but it’s obviously low potential. The max win is 800 times the stake, and the only way to achieve this is by saving all 5 penalties in the Penalty Shoot-Out bonus. Unless you do that, there won’t be much to gain here to be honest. The standard RTP is 96.49% but could be different depending on casino, so always make sure to have a look in the help file.
