Gangster Paradise

Gangster Paradise (Novomatic): Review

Gangster Paradise is a Novomatic powered online slot with a 5-reel, 25-payline setup. As is often the case with Novomatic, it’s all about the re-trigger happy free spin feature where full stacks of standard symbols transform into wild reels. Compatible with most devices and playable from between 0.25€ to 100€ a spin, this slot comes with a default RTP of 95.26%. Beware, however, as Novomatic allows operators to choose from a range of presets that can be as low as 88%.

Set in the 1920s at the height of the mobster era and with an art deco feel, the reels are set against a busy street backdrop with a dashing lady and a mobster armed with a Tommy-gun on either side of the reels. It’s not the first Novomatic slot with a gangster-theme. Released in 2006, Chicago is one of the most popular titles ever released by the company and is still available today across most Novomatic casinos.

Symbols on the reels are dominated by A, K, Q, J 10 and 9 royals. Characteristic of the time and more valuable, you’ll also come across cars, detectives, armed ladies and mobsters. The latter is the most lucrative of all standard symbols and yields 12 times your stake for 5 of a kind. Of even higher value is the wild symbol which here is represented by a gun barrel. Land 5 on a payline and you’ll be rewarded 20 times your stake.

Gangster Paradise (Novomatic): Features

Look out for the police badge scatter – 3, 4 or 5 anywhere on the reels will grant you 7, 10 or 15 free spins respectively. You can look forward to a free spins bonus with a high re-trigger frequency as only 2 scatters are required to re-trigger the bonus with 5 additional free spins.

Central to the bonus is the wild transformation feature. When symbol stacks appear on the reels they’re transformed into stacked wilds, significantly increasing your chances of landing a full-screen wilds and the top prize of 500 times your stake per single spin.

Gangster Paradise (Novomatic): Verdict

Gangster Paradise is a rather typical Novomatic slot – the base game is mostly about waiting for the bonus to drop and if it doesn’t, you’re pretty much screwed. It’s a medium variance slot, however, so it’s not nearly as brutal as some of the classic titles such as Book of Ra or Lucky Lady’s Charm. With that said, we would much rather choose to play high variance Novos instead and if the gangster-theme is your thing, the Chicago slot is a good alternative, offering wins of up to 7,500 times your stake.
