Fire Strike (Pragmatic Play): Overview
Two teaspoons of lounge music, a few drops of glitz and glamour and, finally, a bag of lucky sevens sprinkled on top of it all. Pragmatic’s Fire Strike slot may bear all the hallmarks of a fruit machine, but even so, there are some elements that set it apart from many other slots in the category. With a 5×3, 10-payline reel matrix, it’s more of a hybrid, and with the extended format comes the opportunity to incorporate significantly higher win potential than what you may be used to.
Playable from 0.10 to €/£50 per spin across all devices, Fire Strike is a stripped-down medium variance slot with rhythmic and fast-paced gameplay. There are no free spins to hunt for here. Instead, the objective is to land as many Firestrike symbols as possible on the reels in a single spin, something that can lead to a potentially life-changing experience.
Fire Strike is not the most visually sophisticated slot we’ve ever laid our eyes on, but there’s plenty of appeal to its devilish looks nonetheless. Dominated by intense deep red colours, you’re sent off to the depths of hell where lava lakes, flaming fires, and chillaxing lounge music await. The animated flames that you’ll see flanking the reels are undoubtedly eye-catching, but wait until you land a big win – that’s when things really heat up.
Spinning on the reels you’ll see as many as 12 different regular symbols. These include triple lucky sevens, single, double, and triple bars, dice, playing cards, casino tokens, bankrolls, and green diamonds. The three top paying symbols are represented by blue, purple, and red lucky sevens – 5 of a kind of these will give you 30, 50, or 100 times your stake respectively. The Firestrike symbol with the word “wild” written across it is, of course, the wild. It substitutes for all other symbols, appears stacked on all reels and yields 200 times your stake for 5 across a full payline.
Fire Strike (Pragmatic Play): Features
Inspired by classic fruit machines, there’s not a whole lot to report in terms of features. It’s all about the Firestrike Bonus here which basically comes down to landing as many Firestrike symbols as possible in a single spin. If you hit 6 or more of these anywhere on the reels (they don’t need to connect on a payline), you’ll win an instant cash prize accordingly:
- 6 of a kind awards 1 times your stake.
- 7 of a kind awards 2 times your stake.
- 8 of a kind awards 8 times your stake.
- 9 of a kind awards 25 times your stake.
- 10 of a kind awards 50 times your stake.
- 11 of a kind awards 150 times your stake.
- 12 of a kind awards 500 times your stake.
- 13 of a kind awards 1,000 times your stake.
- 14 of a kind awards 2,500 times your stake.
- 15 of a kind (full screen) triggers the 25,000 times your stake Grand Jackpot.
Fire Strike (Pragmatic Play): Verdict
As you’ve seen, Fire Strike is straightforward and quite similar to many other fruit slots we’ve seen in the past. What sets it apart is the extended reel format and massive potential, although you have to remind yourself that you’re extremely unlikely to land that 25,000x jackpot. And speaking of potential, Pragmatic Play undoubtedly has a lot to prove when it comes to advertised max payout. In the past, the studio has been boasting ridiculously high potential in games such as Da Vinci’s Treasure (48,000x), and Extra Juicy (60,000x), but appears to have been smoke and mirrors as we’re yet to see even 1/3 of that stated potential surface anywhere.
Medium variance, Fire Strike will not bludgeon your balance as quickly as some of Pragmatic’s other offerings and we even managed come out on top during our two hour test round in which we hit a 500x win. That’s the level we advice you to put your expectations, although there is, of course, a chance to land significantly larger wins than that. Overall, Fire Strike is a decent fruit slot with a modern twist, but not one we’re likely to revisit should we get burnt.
