Dragon 50,000

Dragon 50,000 (ReelPlay): Overview

After its anticipated first Megaways release, it’s now back to a more traditional side of things for ReelPlay – quite literally. In the studios latest offering titled Dragon 50,000, we head to ancient China where we get to experience some high variance slots action. On the technical side of things, Dragon 50,000 takes place on a standard video slot interface made up of 5 reels and 3 rows. Across this layout, ReelPlay has included a set of 25 pay lines for you to bet on. These lines have been fixed in position as well, so you don’t have the option of customising them one way or the other. You can still alter the value of the bet that you place on those lines, though. These run from the minimum of 0.25 and increase up to the maximum of €/£100 coins per spin.

Even though the game utilises a theme that has been done, done again and overdone, Dragon 50,000 does appear to bring a certain new life to it. The graphics that ReelPlay has included in the game are of superb quality. The background depicts misty hill and valleys, while two columns are seen at either side of the reels with silver dragons wrapped around them. And speaking of the reels, the first symbols that you will find on them are the classic playing card additions which run from the green 9 through to the pink A. A set of Chinese firecrackers can also be seen as a symbol in the game, while a Chinese lantern comes next. Then come the gold coins and finally, the golden ingot. This one is able to multiply your wager by up to 37,5 times your stake for a 5oak combination.

Dragon 50,000 has quite the entertaining base gameplay round, but there’s a little more to experience when playing it. You see, the slot does come with one or two special features to see and benefit from.

A game that has a dragon in its title would be a little bit odd if it didn’t have a dragon appearing somewhere on its reels. Fortunately, the slot does have one of these – a gold dragon! It is this symbol that represents the Wild in this game, meaning that wherever it shows up, it can count as any of the other standard symbols. The only one that it won’t stand in for is the game’s scatter icon. Should the wild go on to form part of a winning combination, it will also ensure that your payout for it is doubled. What’s more, if you manage to form a win that consists solely of this symbol, you will receive up to 400 times your stake.

There’s also the addition of a pearl symbol to the reels of this game. It is this one that operates as the slot’s scatter symbol. Pearls can show up in any location and still reward you with a payout, as long as at least two of them can be seen. Five of them popping up across the layout will multiply your wager by 400x over in base gameplay. Of course, this isn’t the Scatter icon’s only function in Dragon 50,000.

The Scatter is also responsible for triggering the game’s Free Spins round – 3, 4 or 5 of them anywhere on the reels will give you 10 free spins. During this round, all of the winning combinations that you form will receive a multiplier of 5x to them. The max win from a single free spin is 2000 times your stake which is achieved by landing either 5 oak wilds or 5 oak scatter symbols. You’re also able to retrigger the feature if you land 3 or more scatters anywhere in view.

Dragon 50,000 (ReelPlay): Verdict

Oddly, the game is advertised as offering a max win of 50,000x per single spin when in reality the max win is considerably lower. Unless we’ve confused things, the developer appears to be speaking of coin value and not actual cash value. If the max win is indeed confirmed to be 2000x (we haven’t been able to land the max win, obviously), this is false advertising at its worst.

Either way, Dragon 50,000 remains as quite a basic offering when you consider its inbuilt features. Wilds and multiplier free spins have been occurring in online slots for several years already, so it doesn’t really bring anything new to the table. That’s not to say that it doesn’t execute these features well. Plus, ReelPlay has added some superb graphics into the game, as you will see for yourself. It would just benefit from being imbued with one or two alternatives to the standard special features that slots frequently contain.
