Baker’s Treat: Slot Review
Baker’s Treat is a 5-reel, 3-row video slot with 15 fixed paylines which pays left to right and right to left. Player’s can bet from 0.15 to 75 EUR per spin. The game definately has a British touch to it, or as Play’n GO puts it – It is the most quintessentially British thing since someone put milk in tea.
As can be seen in the screenshot above, the reel set is made out of an outdoor table with cakes as symbols. A bit unusual, but not something we haven’t seen before. The soundtrack is fun and happy, with the sound level increasing as wins are accumulated, much in the same manner as on Reactoonz and many other slots developed by Play’n GO.
Baker’s Treat comes with 5 low value symbols – the pink, yellow, purple and green Macarons. The 5 premium symbols are represented by various desserts – Strawberry Sponges, Lemon Cheesecakes, Carrot Cakes, Blueberry Pies and Cupcakes. There’s of course also a Wild symbol in this game which comes in the form of a Berry Layer cake (don’t ask).
The Strawberry Sponge and the Wild are the top symbols, both with the same value, giving you 40 times the bet for 5 across a payline.
Baker’s Treat: Features
Baker’s Treat comes with a main game feature and a bonus feature called Bake Off. They may seem a bit complicated to understand at first, but we’ll do our best to explain.
Each reel has it’s own cake assigned to it, with the most valuable ones furthest to the right. Displayed above the reels are token collecting meters. If a full stack of premium cakes lands on it’s associated reel the player collects one token. When 3 tokens have been collected to fill the meter, the Flour Power Spins is triggered. The Flour Power Spins bet value will be the average total bet from every spin that results in a symbol collection.
Each cake (reel set) has it’s own unique feaure that will be played when a symbol collection has been completed as described above. They are as followed:
- Cupcake Power: 3 Free Spins in which two reels are matching
- Blueberry Pie Power: 3 Free Spins in which one reel is wild.
- Carrot Cake Power: 3 Free Spins in which all Carrot Cake symbols are upgraded to Wild.
- Lemon Cheesecake Power: 3 Free Spins in which all regular Wilds expand to fill the reel.
- Strawberry Sponge Power: 3 Free Spins in which all Macarons are converted into one type of Macaron.
The biggest potential can be found in the Bake Off feature through which it is possible to win up to 5000x. If all 5 cake symbols land on their associated reels, the Bake Off feature is triggered. An extra spin is awarded if a cake is stacked on it’s reel as the Bake Off feature is triggered, so in case you would trigger all cakes stacked you would go into the Bake Off feature with 10 free spins. Moreover, if the Bake Off feature is triggered during a Flour Power Spin, an instant prize of 80x will be awarded.
Now, the thing with the Bake Off feature is that one Flour Power feature is activated on each spin and remains active throughout Bake Off. Going into this bonus with extra spins means every extra spin will be played with all features activated!
Baker’s Treat: Conclusion
Baker’s Treat will definitely not appeal to everyone due to its theme and visuals, but it nevertheless turned out to be quite an enjoyable game, so don’t judge the book by its cover. It’s kind of relaxing in a weird way and an all around feel-good game. With that said, we can’t help to feel like something’s missing, and aside from the 5 collect features in the main game, we would like to have seen something with a bit more potential. But as there is none, players will more or less be left chasing the Bake Off feature.
Baker’s Treat is a high variance game (9 out of 10 on Play’n GO’s volatility index) with a default RTP of 96.04%. It offers respectable 5000x potential, so it may be worth giving a few spins even if you’re into British tea parties (lol).
